Defending Our Homeland:

A Private Investigator's Perspective on Homeland Security

This course is primarily designed to meet the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies' CE requirement that all GA PIs complete at least 2 hours in Homeland Security as part of their overall 16 hour requirement (12 hours industry related training + 2 hours on ethics + 2 hours on homeland security).

course description

Homeland security requires a national effort, with shared goals and responsibilities for protecting and defending our Homeland. This course examines terrorism and its threat to the world. Analysis will include the origins and ideology of homeland security, the mission of Homeland Security, terrorism threats, religious extremism, international and domestic terrorist groups and an investigator’s responsibility in Homeland Security.

This course is approved for 2 hours of instruction in Georgia, Oregon, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina. An exam will be administered upon the conclusion of the program. If the candidate passes with a score of 75% or better, a certificate of completion will be issued in accordance with state licensing authority standards.

L. Scott Harrell has been a professional investigator for over 17 years. He began a career in the intelligence and investigations tradecraft when selected to work with several intelligence units while serving our country in the United States Navy. Since his discharge, Scott has continued to apply the very special skills honed in the military through his own private investigation practice and service within the private security industry. Scott has worked with Fortune 500 companies, owned and managed two very successful agencies in Texas, Florida and Louisiana. He is also a noted speaker, mentor and author of ten (10) investigation-related books.
