Online Course/ E-Learning program; Participants read and review the material provided. There are downloadable forms and worksheets; Upon completion of all course modules and quiz, participants receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credits.

Upon course completion participants are granted six (6) hours of continuing education credits (CEUs).

This training course is designed to provide a basic introduction into the concepts of the official investigation of death, such as by a coroner or medical examiner office, and the role that the private investigator may play in an equivocal death investigation. As might be expected, there are similar roles, overlapping roles and, of course, different roles and responsibilities.
The course will provide the investigator currently working in, or interested in working in, the death and personal injury investigation fields the knowledge and insight to informatively and intelligently conduct a criminal defense or civil investigation in which serious bodily injury or death is the subject matter of the litigation.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to do the following:

An exam will be administered upon the conclusion of the program. If the candidate passes with a score of 70 percent or better a certificate of completion will be issued in accordance with acceptable standards.

Mr. Humphreys is the owner and educational director at PI Education and executive editor of Pursuit Magazine, a division of Storyboard EMP, LLC
Hal is also the owner and founder/lead investigator of [FIND] Investigations, a PI agency in Nashville, TN.
He is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser, A Certified Fraud Examiner, and a licensed private investigator.
Hal serves as a hearing officer for the Davidson County Board of Equalization and is a contract investigator for the State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.
When he’s not interviewing witnesses or locating people, he’s also a writer, radio producer, hiker, and fly fisherman.
He is a highly sought out speaker for investigative seminars and conferences within the United States.
Adjunct Instructors
Dean and Karen Beers are the owners of Forensic Investigators of Colorado, LLC. Together they have over 30 years of legal investigative experience and a combined official death investigation experience of over seven years at a busy and unique coroner/medical examiner’s office.
Dean is a Board Certified Legal Investigator (CLI) a certified Medicolegal Death Investigator specializing in all Personal Injury, Negligence and Death investigations in the civil arena and Criminal Defense. He has extensive background in medicolegal-forensic and factual Investigations with law enforcement education, experience and relationships. He has testified as an Expert in Private Investigations, and is currently consulting nationwide as an expert in criminal defense homicide and civil equivocal death investigations.
Karen manages the agency administrative matters and is the Associate Legal Investigator also specializing in all Personal Injury, Negligence and Wrongful Death investigations. In addition, her education and experience with victim advocacy and counseling are valuable assets in working with families and victims of traumatic events.
