CONTINUING EDUCATION RULES & REGULATIONS FOR KANSAS PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS

PI Education offers online continuing education courses for Kansas private investigators. The Attorney General regulates licensed agencies, detectives working for agencies, and independent private detectives in Kansas.

FAQ’S Regarding Continuing Education for Kansas Private Investigators

  • Kansas private investigators need eight (8) hours of continuing education credit every two (2) years before their licenses are renewed.
  • Continuing education for renewal must be received during the two-year licensure period only.
  • You may not roll over additional CEU hours to the next renewal period.
  • Please submit documentation of continuing education to the Attorney General’s private detective licensing unit when you renew your license. You will be responsible for giving them a copy of your certificate of completion.

  • The Kansas Attorney General’s Office does not approve or recommend specific continuing education providers. Once an applicant or licensee submits a course, it is reviewed based on the criteria set in the Kansas regulations (K.A.R. 16-4-2 through 16-4-4).
